Wendy Newman, LCSW

Welcome

Wendy NewmanEvery person differs in their attitudes, beliefs, and abilities. Therefore, I believe that therapy must be tailored to each individual. I work with adults and adolescents who are seeking help and relief from disturbing symptoms that effect how they feel or how they treat themselves and others. I am particularly interested in helping my clients gain a better understanding of the relationship between physical and emotional health as it relates to their feelings of power and mastery over their lives.

With my integrative approach, clients become aware of unresolved aspects of themselves, thereby reducing their use of unhealthy defense mechanisms that have inhibited their ability to be spontaneous and flexible. Helping my clients become more tuned in to their body’s signals, such as how their body experiences anxiety, is a crucial step toward gaining control over what once felt so overwhelming. Such awareness has enormous benefits in ones ability to problem-solve, relate to others and even achieve optimal physical health. Through this approach, it becomes possible for people to face each moment with a fresh viewpoint apart from the protection of pre-formed opinions, attitudes or expectations.

The most important ingredient, of course, is the therapeutic relationship. My approach is open, engaging and non-judgmental. I invite you to call me or send me an email so we can determine whether this one can be a “good fit” for you.
